Things to Do in Hendersonville, NC
Enjoy the charming and elegant shops, restaurants and art galleries in historic downtown Hendersonville and behold the beautifully-painted fiberglass bears that adorn Main Street, courtesy of the Hendersonville Bears Community Art Project.
Visit Hendersonville’s many museums and landmarks, including the Henderson County Heritage Museum, the Mineral and Lapidary Museum, the Western NC Air Museum, the Genealogical and Historical Society, Historic Henderson County Courthouse, Historic Hendersonville Train Depot, Hendersonville City Hall, Historic Johnson Farm and the Carl Sandburg House.
Music and dancing are also popular in downtown Hendersonville with their Summertime Music on Main Concert Series.

Delightful Annual Events
Every first Saturday in May, there’s the Bearwallow Beast 5k Trail Run & Festival, featuring a run to the top of Bearwallow Mountain. Runners and spectators alike will also enjoy food, beer and live entertainment, adding up to a truly enjoyable experience.
The last Saturday in May welcomes the Mad Mountain Mud Run, a gleefully mucky running course for those who don’t mind getting filthy – or just laughing while others do it. It is followed by a wonderful local festival.
The third weekend in May is time for the Garden Jubilee Festival, one of the region’s largest lawn and garden shows showcasing more than 200 venders of plants and garden accessories. Food and refreshment stands make festival a whole-day event.
Labor Day weekend is host to the North Carolina Apple Festival, featuring local craftspeople, food venders, live entertainment and, of course, apples! Apple pie, apple cider, apple dolls…if it can be made with apples, you’ll probably find it here and have fun to boot!
Mid-September welcomes the North Carolina Mountain State Fair at the Western Carolina Agricultural Center. Full of fun, food, rides, shows and exhibits for the whole family.
Every first weekend in October, it’s the Art on Main Fine Art & Craft Festival, featuring a wide selection of arts, crafts, food and refreshments. Don’t miss it!
Love the Main Street Bears? The third Saturday in October is time for the Bearfootin’ Art Auction, offering many of Main Street’s glorious painted fiberglass bears for sale to the highest bidder. Bring a vehicle with a large loading area, because these bears are big! All proceeds go to downtown Hendersonville’s non-profits and art projects.
