Nothing epitomizes Tryon better than the Tryon International Equestrian Center, which features horse competitions, entertainment, a delightful merry-go-round, shopping, restaurants, special family-friendly events and much more.
Can’t get enough horses? The Foothills Equestrian Nature Center offers horse-related events, scenic trails and other types of “horseplay.”
Don’t forget to visit the five vineyards within a short drive of downtown Tryon. Specifically; Overmountain Vineyards (Tryon), Mountain Brook Vineyards (Tryon), Parker-Binns Vineyard (Mill Spring), Green Creek Winery (Columbus) and Russian Chapel Hills Winery (Columbus).
Explore Green River Gorge for scenic hiking, kayaking, swimming, tubing and, for the daring, zip-lining through the mountains.
Delightful Annual Events in Tryon
Every third Saturday in March, local promoters put together Tryon Super Saturday featuring the Theatre Festival for Children, with “exceptional opportunities for children to enrich their lives by presenting the finest actors, singers, dancers, musicians, storytellers, puppeteers, magicians and all-round wizards in festival celebration!” It’s an event to make lifetime memories for kids and adults.
The first Saturday in April welcomes the Tryon April Fools Festival with a parade, music, food, games and other fun activities for the entire family.
Every second weekend in June you can enjoy the Blue Ridge Barbecue & Music Festival with more than 50 barbecue aficionados competing for the coveted BBQ blue ribbon. Stuff your face and marvel at an array of classic cars, craft booths and local musicians.
For more adult fun, there’s the Tryon Beer Fest the first Saturday in November, showcasing more than 15 local craft beer brewers, local food vendors, live music and more.
